The project will also ensure SHF production and quality assurance at industrial production level. The project requires a satisfactory demonstration of the techniques proposed, followed by installation of trial units on the live network to monitor their operation under true fault conditions. The project will trial units at various secondary substations on closed HV rings. Electronic devices also called Remote Terminal Units are used to reconfigure and collect data about the performance of our network, so we can intervene when necessary to keep supplies safe and reliable.

This project is exploring better ways to collect and use the data we gather such as demand, capacity and faults on our electricity network. This is a research project to explore the technical and commercial feasibility of converting between gas and electricity networks to optimise the utilisation of both networks through a Dual Fuel Transport Hub.
